Edelbrock carb running rich, sbc?

First off I have a 79 chevy truck with a bone stock 305, carb and performer intake is all. When I bought a new 600 cfm, some people said It would be fine and others didnt, I was thinkin more like a 500 cfm. My truck now, runs good and all, but when you rev it twice kind of slow it will puff black smoke out, and coming to a stop, (its a 4 speed manual), without downshifting, and hittin the brakes hard it will idle way down and almost die. So im thinkin too much carb for a 305. any ideas?

Team Fortress 2 strange graphics?

I got team fortress 2 since it went f2p. When I start the game up it works fine, aside from long load times and, occasionally, trouble connecting to a game.The trouble really starts when i start playing. There is a weird neon orange and green color on objects and on the map that. I can't see my gun clearly and there is a triangle shape in front of me that is the color that my hand should be. Also, when selecting a class, i can only see the gun, not the character. I played around whit the video settings, but nothing i did worked. I can post my specs if i need to, but what i am really wondering is: is this a glitch with the game, or is my video card too weak to hand TF2? Can you run it says that this game should pass on my pc. I have my computer set to auto fill my accounts with user ids and passwords. I forgot I had changed my Yahoo account and filled in the information manually with the incorrect password. The auto fill in saved the wrong password and now I can not access my account because the correct password has been overriden by the incorrect one. I am 18, college-bound for the fall, and I can't decide on where I see myself. My original plan was to head into law, but I did my research and learned, to my dismay, that law is a very very popular career choice. Second I considered Computer Engineering and Science but than I had a peek into the past and remembered how poorly I did in my High School math classes and then foresaw a future of pain and stress for the next four years as CE or CS major. Than I came to a realization that the my interests in life usually go back to these four things: coffee, music, philosophy, and literature. How in hell am I suppose to choose a major with interest that usually leave people with the opinion that those who have only such interest will end up broke and homeless. I really want to have my majors down before I attend my college orientation next month and see my adviser to pick classes. I really would like to double major. I have considered just becoming a business and cognitive science major and just go into business. I mean I love coffee and I always had this dream to move to Seattle, Washington, the coffee capital, or to San Fransisco, CA and just starting my own independent coffee shop. I would just suggest using more of the sealant. Maybe a spray laminate. I did something kind of the same, but sprayed it with a laminate. It will get way glossy though.

I linked my google and youtube accounts a few weeks ago because youtube made me, but now I can't log into my youtube account because I don't know the password for my google account. ok, there was a 55-94 block made. no 55-86, it was just the heads that changed bolt pattern for the valve covers between 87-94. from what i remember, the vortec 5.7 was just an old 350 with new heads and intake, and a reversed cooling system. from what iv been told, you can put cam, heads, and intake from an 55-94 block, on a 95-2000 block

The short answer to your question is that these speakers just won't work with that computer. Simple as that. They are passive speakers meaning that they are just speakers, nothing more. They have no amplifiers built into them as active speakers do and active speakers are what computer speakers are. Even if you were to get some kind of amplifier, such as a receiver, you still wouldn't be able to use that subwoofer with it because it too is a passive speaker and all modern receivers require an active subwoofer. You'd be far better off putting these speakers back in the loft and buying a set of modern, computer speakers.

I am retired, but I use to teach auto shop and I can guarantee your grandpa is closer to the truth on this than you are. You have never built an engine yet.. Yeah, listen to grandpa. Be patient, patient, patient. Patience is the key. making sure you do every thing in the proper sequence and don't miss anything. The problem you, and every one who wants to do it in 2 days is fatigue, really, once you start to get tired you will make mistakes. When building an engine it is best to take a break every hour and stretch and walk around. Most of your speedshops have books by different engine builders. It's a good idea you read thru a couple before you tackle this. A hiperf engine needs things like oil clearence and torques checked and rechecked and rechecked more than stock ones. Good luck and happy racing.

Sounds like your mower locked up...remove the plug flip it over try to move the blade.if u can't get it to move it might be locked up...if u break it free flip it back over, install the plug, check the oil and start that sucker.its probably gonna smoke like hell because u got oil in the muffler.....the only other thing it might be is the sheer pin....if u hit something with the mower the shear pin will break saving the motor but will throw it outta time......just guessing with what info u have given...

Need a little info on the 305 SBC 416 heads on a 1970's 350?

I am buying a stock late 70's early 80's model 350. I also have a 1983 305 with the 416 heads on it. My plan is to use the 350 and do the following: Install hooker headers, (cause that's what I have already) go with a performance dual plane intake, completely rebuilt qjet, running the stock 416 heads. I understand the compression ratios will effect the ability to run cheap gas, but i really will not drive the tuck much anyway. My question is what horsepower (ballpark) will i be looking at and is there any other cheap tricks (got this one from an older guy who runs dirt track) that will increase HP and torque.

Baby robins when accidentally leaving the nest as soon as they fall on the ground and walk around their nest scent wears off so the mother doesn't know if she owns it. So the baby is on their own forever which is bad since they can't get their own food and can't fly either. So it died of hunger or if it ws still featherless that means he may have died of weather conditions. Need information on fel-pro gasket set?

I am rebuilding a SBC 350 and I have a Fel-Pro gasket set # ks2600. I know that I don't need all the gaskets they include but there is one I'm not sure of. It looks like a nylon flat washer. Reading the contents list it say's that there is a oil pump shaft retainer. The oil pump I have came with two plastic sleeves that I know lock the shaft together. What would this plastic washer be used for? Need to know before I get ahead of myself. Perhaps I just toss it over my shoulder I don't know. Hate to do that though. The list on the carton doesn't quite correspond with the contents. Say's it has an oil drain plug seal but not in there unless this part that I'm questioning is for the drain plug. Never seen a plastic one. This little part is holding me up on getting this bad boy fired up.

Why won't my car start?

Okay here's what I got, 82 Cadillac coupe De ville it had a 4100 engine in it i took it out and put a 307 Oldsmobile engine in it and it worked great. Well I wanted to go bigger so i put a 350 SBC in it out of a 78 Camaro. I hooked everything up and had a problem with the distributor. It did not have a ECM plug-in so I took the module and the ECM plug-in out of the 307 distributor and put it in the 350 SBC distributor . I tried to start the engine with starter fluid and it keeps back firing from the exhaust manifold and also I do not see any fuel pumping to the carburetor (which is a quadra junk) and it is a brand new fuel pump. Not only that I used the spark plug wires from the 307 also. Somebody please tell me where did I go wrong and how can I fix this problem to get my car running, Thanks

Is having the wrong intake manifold the cause of my engine overheating?

Well I have a 1990's SBC 350 engine on my 1963 impala. It have a SBC 327 well I use the intake manifold from the 327 The center bolts are different but i made it work. I bought another intake manifold that I going to put on it to replace the 327 intake but I was just wondering if having the wrong intake manifold can cause my engine to over heat or is it something eals like the water pump?

You can not switch fan directions with the 3 terminal toggle switch shown. You need a double pole, double throw switch which has 6 terminal posts since both the positive and negative leads from the battery must be switched to reverse the fan direction. This means you can not use the car chassis as a return line for the negative battery lead to the fan like you could if you were only operating the fan in one direction.

81 camaro berlinetta?

im working on my project camaro right now..just wanted to know what you guys thought of it..It is a 355 sbc with a 6-71 wieand blower. Forged eagle crankshaft and connecting rods. The camshaft is made by comp, it is a thumper with a .500 lift at 365 duration. The pistons are made by JR and there .030 over bore dished. 7:1 compression ratio which is ideal for a blown engine. I still have not boughten heads for it yet. Anyone have any sugestions. The combustion chamber has to be over 72 because I am running 6 inch connecting rods. My pistons are cut so they wont hit the valves.

Question on vacuum for small block Chevy High Performance 350?

the power brake hose has to go to a big fitting, on the intake or behind the bottom of the carburetor. the vacuum advance hose has to run ported ( above the throttle plat on the carburetor so it can advance itself when you give it gas. you don,t want it ran straight off the intake or it will be advanced all the time when it,s running. the egr valve hose has to have vacuum all the time when it,s running so find a vacuum source where you can hook it to.

What has my Mosin Nagant M38 been fed?

Unfortunately this is the result of using corrosive ammo and not cleaning your gun meticulously! It won't necessarily have ruined the rifle, but it will reduce the accuracy a teense. I've had, and do have several rifles that have suffered this fate. I wanted them anyway, and am quite happy with them the way they are! I have an Enfield #4 MKI that I had a tough time even getting a 30 cal cleaning rod to go through the bore, when I bought it! It shoots fine and is pretty darn accurate! This rifle also had a depression eroded into the bolt face where it had corroded also. I had that built back up and rehead spaced, as I didn't quite trust it the way it was. I'm not sure what the brown flat flakes are. They where also in this rifle! I don't think I'll ever see them in this gun anymore, though! You have done basically what I did, clean the crap out of it, shoot it and clean it again. Now you can enjoy it! :)

Not to be religiously insensitive in anyway when asking this question, but I decided to look up the pros and cons of religions, and lo and behold to my surprise, Baptists have very little, if any, criticisms on their methods. The 77 should have an internally regulated alternator. 10si is what the alt is, search net for "10si" and you will find info on how to connect it. It's pretty simple alt to hook up. There is even a one wire choice with the right regulator. Depending on a few choices you will make, you will decide how you want to connect it, for example if you want a idiot light to work.

SBC Cam break in questions for small block chevy?

Ok, so I have this DVD by Boxwrench that tells you how to completely rebuild a small block. I am very close to starting this thing up for the first time, but I'm a little confused on the cam break in period and what damage I could do. The DVD says to run the engine at 2000 rpm for like 5-7 minutes, but my question is, when trying to start the motor for the first time, i assume it wont fire up perfectly the very first time, and it will take a few tries before i get it right and timed. so how many times can i try starting it and have it rotate all the internals until i went past or damaged the cam for its cam break in time? I am doing an engine swap in my 62 Impala. I am going from a strait 6 to a 350 SBC. I understand I need to replace the mounts on the engine but do I have to replace the mount's on the frame. What are those called? Towers, saddles or what? I don't know what to look for. Anytime I look for engine mount it always comes up with the part you bolt onto the engine block and nothing is said about the part bolted to the frame. Will I have to replace these as well?

I often go into a dream state then wake up but realise I'm not as I can't move, during this time I'm in my own surroundings but I can hear voices or music or see something odd in it. I always try to escape the dream by shaking my head and closing my eyes, even if I am paralysed. I always remember them very clearly. Here are some examples: I was in a normal dream in my school building, it was very foggy and at night time. I remember walking round a corner and thinking please dont let anyone be round that corner and then a giant ghost like man came stomping round the corner following me and I woke up. I was in my own surroundings and couldnt move, I then heard screaming and swearing at me, I tried shaking my head to get out of it and a few minutes later I woke up. A recent one I had was I was in my own surroundings again but I could see my mum standing and staring at me, it was slightly blurry and i couldn't see mum clearly. I even remember one when I was 5! I was in my own surroundings again and this lion toy on my floor grew bigger and turned alive, an Angel then turned it back to original state, I woke up and the lion toy was on the floor. Another one I had was I was in my own surroundings and I could hear creepy noises, I peeked from the covers and saw the grim reaper getting closer and closer as I looked, I then woke up. I think my house may be haunted?

Ok, I think my house may be haunted. I hear things at night, and see dark shadows around my room. I can't be imagining things because even my brother has heard something. We have been hearing things since we were children. In a recent photo I took off my dog, I saw a (and don't laugh here) blurry shape that looks like a leg in the corner of the photo. Backfire through carb at WOT?

I just recently rebuilt my 350 sbc engine, the engine will start fine and idle fine, but when i seem to quickly give it full throttle it will backfire through the carb, the carb is an edelbrock performer 600cfm electric choke, has performer plus cam, rebuilt machined 882 heads, new carb, distributor cap and rotor. ive read a lot of forums and a few lead to bad distributor, i am using a used stock distributor so that could be my problem, i know my plug wires are right, im thinking it could also be valves not adjusted right, my spark plugs are a little black and sooty looking, i bought them brand new, i have vacuum advace and its connected to the passenger side of the carb, thats how it was connected b4 i pulled and rebuilt engine, but the engine will idle fine and rev fine if i rev slowly and not quickly, it only backfires when i flick the throttle to full throttle, any help would be greatly appreciated, thx in advance

I'm looking to fabricate a '67-68 inspired Formula 1 car. Budget is a huge factor. I can't seem to find definitive info on rear mid-engine transmissions that I can mate to a small block Chevy 350 via adapter plate. I've decided on that particular engine for availability, simplicity, cost, and availability of support. So, what is the cheapest transmission I can mate to a SBC 350 that can handle 250-300 HP? Most of the Porsche transmissions cost more than the total price for all other materials for the build. 1974 400 SBC 4 Barrel = Needs more power!?

So I'm looking at buying a 86 trans am with a 74 400 sbc swapped in. It has a 4 barrel carb, but what other things can I get to improve on the extremely low power ratings on this motor. I definitely don't need any more torque, just some more hp. It is connected to the 4 speed auto, 700r4 I think. I'm not looking to spend a fortune, just some small mods to maybe get 170hp out of that old thing lol. Obviously, there's the better spark plugs, distributor, wires, dual exhaust, etc, but would say a high rise intake or something along those lines? It will start runs great when cold after it runs and gets to temp i shut it off and the starter drags so bad it will not turn over fast enough to start until cold again. checked timing at temp and no vacuum advance and it is at about 16 degrees. I also put on a high torque starter it did not help. Any one have any ideas what is going on.

For example, I know that Fram filters give me almost 10 psi less at idle on my LT1 when compared to an AC Delco filter, and synthetic 10w30 gives me about the same when compared to standard 10w40. Flow through the filter will contribute to different psi readings and different oil pressures in the engine, but what value you are seeing really doesn't sound like anything that would make me nervous if it were my car.

SBC 400 How would this cam work?

probably sound fast as hell. issues here- are the springs compatible?(coil bind,etc.) what type trans or converter?(wont make much torque under 2600).how much compression?(cams this size bleed off alot of cylinder pressure). gear ratio? weight?also you wont be able to turn a stock bottom end 7000 for long. if you can leave the line or come off the corners at around 3000 and the springs that you have are good for 6000-7000 you may end up with what you are looking for.

Backfiring through the carb?

I just recently built my first 350 sbc, when i try to flip the throttle open it backfires through the carb, it idles and revs up perfect but when i go to open the throttle fast it will backfire, this is in park by the way, timing chain is brand new, new cap and rotor, new fuel filter and pump, ive been asking around and others are saying its the timing or carb, im leaning toward the carb more than the timing although it could be off, but the engine starts up every time with ease and revs fine, the heads machined and new valves etc, valves could be another issue, i dont think they are 100% adjusted properly, the carb i have on the engine is edelbrock performer 600 cfm electric choke, i had installed my older 600 cfm performer carb and ran rough, so i know the new carb i have makes a big difference, also my spark plugs are dry but looks like they have a little soot on all 8 of them, open to any suggestions that may fix this problem, thx in advance everyone

What's your idea of "dirt cheap"? If you want a 5 speed for that application, it's not going to be that cheap, maybe $500 for a used one. A 4 speed might be a little cheaper. You'll have to do some fabricating to hook it up, that car never came with anything like that.

I am 18, college-bound for the fall, and I can't decide on where I see myself. My original plan was to head into law, but I did my research and learned, to my dismay, that law is a very very popular career choice. Second I considered Computer Engineering and Science but than I had a peek into the past and remembered how poorly I did in my High School math classes and then foresaw a future of pain and stress for the next four years as CE or CS major. Than I came to a realization that the my interests in life usually go back to these four things: coffee, music, philosophy, and literature. How in hell am I suppose to choose a major with interest that usually leave people with the opinion that those who have only such interest will end up broke and homeless. I really want to have my majors down before I attend my college orientation next month and see my adviser to pick classes. I really would like to double major. I have considered just becoming a business and cognitive science major and just go into business. I mean I love coffee and I always had this dream to move to Seattle, Washington, the coffee capital, or to San Fransisco, CA and just starting my own independent coffee shop. I mean there are three independent coffee shops that are doing pretty well for themselves, and my hometown isn't the most lucrative place to do business. 350 turboglide transmission any good?

I have a GM automatic 350 turbo glide transmission that has been sitting for about 6 years. I got it with the engine I bought sbc 350. I dumped a bunch of money into the engine in a rebuild/upgrade and want to possibly install this into my 62 Impala. What are the chances of this tranny being any good? The matching engine only had about 60k for mileage. I'm tapped out on funds for a bit and wondering if this is worth installing without a rebuild. Of coarse I would do a fluid and filter change.

Hi Everyone! I love astronomy so much! However, my knowledge is almost entirely in theory: astrophysics (everything from Newton to relativity), magnitudes, objects, even telescope making, however I really don't have much experience with actual OBSERVATION; I've been missing out on discovering the optical beauty of our night sky. I've built a 6" Newt and I have an array of eyepieces, but I always just seem to look at the basics: Saturn, Venus, Vega, Polaris, Jupiter...but I want to see more interesting objects, so my question is which Messier objects (or similar) are easiest to find and see, and how do I actually go about finding them. I've got the theory, now I want to see the theory in the real world. Thanks!!
