Why is it that when I try to put in a yahoo address to sign up for an email or to enroll for something it?

for something it always says the yahoo address is invalid. Then I have to go to the sbc.com address. I always use Yahoo for correspondence. I tried to sign up for a CD on Amazon and it would not take it
