Why is my car overheading?

I have a 1963 Chevy impala with a 1990's SBC 350 Ive replace the hoses, thermostat intake gaskets Ive check if had any air pockets inside the motor I was wondering if it could be the water pump but I think it works Whats one way that I can check if it works or what eals can it be? Thanks
