1974 400 SBC 4 Barrel = Needs more power!?

So I'm looking at buying a 86 trans am with a 74 400 sbc swapped in. It has a 4 barrel carb, but what other things can I get to improve on the extremely low power ratings on this motor. I definitely don't need any more torque, just some more hp. It is connected to the 4 speed auto, 700r4 I think. I'm not looking to spend a fortune, just some small mods to maybe get 170hp out of that old thing lol. Obviously, there's the better spark plugs, distributor, wires, dual exhaust, etc, but would say a high rise intake or something along those lines? Just looking for a couple more ponies if I decide to buy this car. Thanks Everyone :)
